This carrier is definitly rugged, but it wobbles all over the place. There are no assembly instructions, just an exploded view of the unit showing how it is assembled. If you can get through the assembly on your own, you will notice a few items that are weird. First, the nuts an bolts that assemble the tray to the main frame are button head bolts. You need a pretty big screw driver adn a lot of strength to tighten them. I swapped out the lag bolts for hex bolts. I also had to add stabilization straps going from my tow hitch side bars under my SUV to the very ends of the carrier.

If you don't mind the carrier wobbling, then it is a very good carrier. I just wish this carrier was more stable.

This motorcycle carrier was delivered by FedEx, which normally I would not anticipate a problem with. However, the carrier is built of very heavy gauge metal, and it weighs considerably. The FedEx shipper had treated it roughly and had bent a part of the support underneath the carrier, but more troubling was the tape holding all the parts together for shipping was torn and a couple parts were missing. I did not discover this until after the shipper had left.

I took pictures of the bent part, though I was able to straighten it out myself, and did not see any need to send it back for replacement. My main concern was in convincing the seller that FedEx had roughly handled things and parts were missing so they would send me what was missing. One of the parts missing was the ramp used to roll the bike on and off the carrier, so I really needed it.

The price was right, and shipping was fast. It installed in accordance with the instructions. However, when loading my 750lb motorcycle on this 1000lb rated carrier, the ramp collapsed with the front wheel halfway up it. We substituted a 2x6 and got the bike loaded. There is not really enough room for my rear tire (170mm width). The carrier also tipped precariously toward the rear of the bike once it was loaded. Any weight at all on the cargo basket bent it. I added a couple straps from the outside rear corners of the ramps up to the back windows of my RV and got the bike and the RV home (1200 mile trip) without damage. So it did its job. I am going to have to do some reinforcing and build a better ramp before I use it again. Realistically if you want to use this as is, you probably need to buy one that's rated to double the weight of your motorcycle. And as always, you get what you pay for. There's a reason this is less than half the cost of the top of the line ones.
